In the driving seat information guide

For many of us, driving gives us independence and freedom, so the thought of having to give it up can be very difficult. Getting older doesn’t have to mean that you give up driving but there are things worth considering when thinking about driving in later life.

This guide explains the legal, practical, and personal considerations to take into account when thinking about driving in later life. It covers:

  • renewing your licence at 70
  • driving assessments
  • adaptations to your car to help you keep driving safely
  • other ways to get out and about if you stop driving.

It also lists useful organisations you can contact for further information and advice about driving, adaptations to your vehicle and other ways of getting around.
